Resources from the Symposium

I attended the Chronic Illness Symposium yesterday and found it to be educational and inspiring.
As a staff member of Erasing the Distance, it was really nice to see how our work with mental illness can fit into a larger context of chronic illness.  I am struck by how often invisible chronic illness can be stigmatized, disbelieved, or misunderstood -- just like some mental illnesses.

During the workshops, I took note as websites and resources were mentioned, and I wanted to share a few of them here:
  • -- a community for women with chronic illnesses
  • -- advice and advocacy for patients with chronic illnesses navigating health care and more
  • -- a community promoting healthy lifestyles, particularly fighting against environmental toxins
As a DePaul alum, I am proud of my alma mater for holding an event dedicated to chronic illness and for recognizing the diverse needs of their students, including students who have chronic illnesses.  If you have other resources to share, please post them in the comments section.

Wishing you a healthy day,
~ Oriana
