Help Send Silence Packing

On Thursday, April 29, Send Silence Packing is coming to Chicago.

Send Silence Packing is a powerful and moving display of 1,100 donated backpacks representing the 1,100 college students who die by suicide each year. The program was developed by Active Minds, Inc. and is currently on a 10-city, 10-state tour across the U.S. By displaying the backpacks and personal stories with many of the bags, the program raises awareness about the incidence and impact of student suicide.

Active Minds is a wonderful grass roots organization that aims to raise awareness of mental health issues on college campuses across the country. ETD has worked with the Active Minds chapter at University of Chicago for the past two years, and we are excited to be attending the Send Silence Packing event as volunteers.

Send Silence Packing will be on display in downtown Chicago in Daley Plaza on April 29 from 8AM-6PM. In case of inclement weather, the display will be held instead on Friday, April 30 from 10AM-5PM in Grant Park, near Buckingham Fountain, between Columbus Drive and Michigan Ave and E. Jackson Blvd and E. Congress Pkwy.

Right now their greatest need is for volunteers.
The easiest and best way to sign up to volunteer is by using this online form. I hope we will see you there.
