On the Horizon!

Did you miss our awesome MHAI show at the Theatre Building this past Monday? If you did, (heck even if you didn't) get out your calenders and write one of the following dates down. ETD has some exciting performances and events on the horizon, and I don't want you to miss them.

February 10th, Custom show Release and Let Go at the University of Chicago: The show will take on on some of the most common mental health issues facing U of C students including suicide, PTSD and trauma from sexual assault, and substance abuse.
3 of the stories have NEVER been seen before and for the first time in ETD history, we are hearing from more men than women. In fact 4 of the 6 stories are from males! We’re thrilled to showcase their voices in such a prominent way and to help bear witness to their experiences.

Stuart Hall, 5835 South Greenwood Ave Chicago, IL
February 10th, 6pm-FREE!
(plan ahead because seating will be limited.)

February 26th, author and former Second City performer Abby Sher partners with ETD :Abby Sher (author of Amen, Amen, Amen: Memoir of a Girl who Couldn’t Stop Praying) will share a story about committing herself at age 30 to the Highland Park Eating Disorders Clinic, eating her first meal at home, and what it felt like to see and feel in full colors again. Abby will also be joined by fellow alums from The Second City (the people who were there to stand by her) who will improvise together using parts of Abby’s book for inspiration.

This performance is part of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week and is being sponsored by Erasing the Distance and Flourish Studios.

Flourish Studios, 3020 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL. - 7 pm-FREE!

*Abby will also be teaching a writing workshop at Flourish Studios on the 27th from 12-2 pm

Attendees are encouraged to bring a pen, notebook, and the last list they made (groceries, to do’s, etc.) Abby will lead (and follow) writing exercises designed to help draw out pivotal moments in life. Whether guests are working on a specific writing project, or just wanting to explore the blank page, this afternoon will encourage them to see everything as a new thought.

RSVP’s are required for both events and seating is very limited. You can RSVP at or by calling 773.944.5062 ext 4.

I hope to see you all at one of these events (if you come out to the UofC show you will see me on stage!) Until then, have a wonderful weekend.
